The Psilocybin Process

the psilocybin journey process

Welcome to Prism Bend’s psilocybin facilitation process. I’m Cate Ritter, a Licensed Psilocybin Facilitator in Bend, Oregon. I’m here to guide you through every step of your psilocybin journey, from consultation to integration. Together, we’ll create a safe and meaningful psilocybin experience that aligns with your intentions.

1. Contact Form

Get started with the psilocybin process by filling out our contact form. From there, you'll be directed to helpful resources to explore. Begin by viewing:

2. Preparation Sessions

Duration: Two 1-hour sessions via Zoom

Schedule: about one week and two weeks before your journey

Preparation is one of the most important parts of the psilocybin process. Together, we'll build a strong foundation of trust, safety, and understanding. We'll review forms, answer questions, explore your intentions, discuss what to expect throughout this process, determine dosing, and more. We prepare for every aspect of your experience so you can arrive feeling comfortable, confident, and ready to focus inward.

3. Journey Session

Duration: about 6-8 hours at the service center

Prepare:

  • Hydrate with water and be mindful of caffeine.

  • Aim to fast at least 2-3 hours before your journey. If food is needed aim for something light and easy to digest such as yogurt/oatmeal and fruit (but no grapefruit).

  • Avoid fragrances; deodorant is acceptable.

  • Spend time in nature, write in a journal, stretch, and engage in activities that help you focus and reflect.

  • Reduce technology use.

Begin the Journey:

  • We'll check-in and answer questions before we begin.

  • Listen to an opening blessing of the container.

  • A service center representative will bring in the psilocybin product.

  • You’ll focus on your intention and mindfully consume the medicine.

  • Settle in with an eye mask (optional), relax, and turn your focus inward.

  • Breathe and let the music guide you.

  • You’ll likely feel the effects within 15-60 minutes.

The Psilocybin Experience:

  • I'll be there to facilitate, applying our prep work to support your journey.

  • As part of service center safety protocol, if I step into another room to use the restroom, eat a snack, or take a short break, a licensed service center representative may sit with you so you remain fully supported.

  • Be curious and open with whatever arises as you explore your inner terrain, and trust that the mushrooms will give you what you need

  • We’ll close your journey with gratitude and discuss integration tips.

Aftercare:

  • You'll stay onsite until cleared to sign out of the service center. Stick to your transportation plan. No driving or biking today.

  • Plan to have a calm, relaxing evening to reflect on your experience.

4. Integration Sessions

Duration: Two 1-hour sessions via Zoom

Schedule: about one week and one month post-experience

We encourage you to schedule your Integration Sessions in advance to ensure you're well supported. Please note this format is different for groups.

The final part of the psilocybin process is integration. Integration begins right after your Journey Session and is key to maximizing its impact. Slowing down with reflective practices like journaling, enjoying nature, and creating art are helpful.

This time weaves the insights and shifts from your experience into daily life. Together, we'll explore various resources to support a meaningful integration process, ensuring your journey continues to enrich your life after the session ends.
